“A former Rockwood police officer at the center of a $1.2 million federal lawsuit for pepper-spraying a 20-year-old college student submitted his resignation a day after the lawsuit was filed, according to records.

Officer Chris Kennedy claimed he was charged by Xavier Howard while responding to a report of a domestic argument between Howard and his girlfriend at an apartment complex shortly after midnight July 5, 2015.

The officer’s body camera video — obtained through a public records request by the News Sentinel — shows no such attack.

According to the lawsuit, filed last month in U.S. District Court, Howard was arrested and ultimately charged with underage consumption of alcohol after a judicial magistrate refused to approve a domestic assault charge because there was no evidence.

As a result of his arrest, the student lost his basketball scholarship at Roane State Community College and was forced to drop out, the lawsuit claims. Howard racked up more than $5,000 in bond and legal fees.”

Boy cops sure do hate the whole camera thing

Whether you have it or they do, it strips their ability to lie

Make sure any time you have contact that you have video rolling

If not it is almost a virtual guarantee that the report will be filled with lies

For decades their default position has been to lie to cover any incongruities in their stories

Now in the camera age that ability is being taken away

Slowly but surely they are being shown for what they really are

“Nearly nine months since Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke was charged with murder for shooting Laquan McDonald, police Supt. Eddie Johnson is considering whether to fire or discipline at least 10 other cops for allegedly covering up what happened or bungling the investigation, sources say.

That’s the recommendation contained in a report on Johnson’s desk from Chicago Inspector General Joe Ferguson.

Among the first to go: Deputy Chief David McNaughton, who signed off on the police investigation that cleared Van Dyke of wrongdoing and retired Monday, the Chicago Sun-Times first reported.

McNaughton had written that the officer had “fired his weapon in fear of his life when the offender while armed with a knife continued to approach and refused all verbal direction.” Sources said McNaughton was forced out because of his role in the case.

Other high-ranking officials besides McNaughton are expected to resign, retire or be fired for their actions in the McDonald case, sources say. Johnson hasn’t formally moved to fire any cops in connection with the inspector general’s recommendation. No administrative charges have been filed with the Chicago Police Board, the first step in firing a cop.

Last month, Ferguson, the inspector general, had an hourlong meeting with Mayor Rahm Emanuel. It’s unclear if Ferguson discussed his McDonald recommendations with the mayor.

On Nov. 24, Van Dyke was charged with murder by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, which had reinvestigated the shooting along with the FBI. A video from a police vehicle’s dashboard camera, made public on Nov. 24, showed that McDonald was walking away from Van Dyke and his partner when he was shot 16 times.”

Look at that

One day they are heroes, risking their lives every day

The next day?

They are lying scumbags covering up the murder of a suspect shot in the back while walking away

So what is the difference ?

The difference is that they were exposed for who they really are

Prior to that, they walked around with authority, badged and vested

Sworn officers of the court

But that didn’t change the fact that they were scumbags

It only changed the perception of them being scumbags

At least to some

I am sure it didn’t to those citizens that they lied about

Or beat

Or planted evidence on

But to the public as a whole , who buy the narrative of the thin blue line

Their perception was changed

They could now see them for what they really are

Corrupt, lying, power hungry, degenerates who defame their profession and their badge

The country is starting to wake up

In this age of car cameras and cell phones

They can no longer lie and hide behind their uniform and badge

The time is coming when their misdeeds as a whole will be exposed

The myth of the the thin blue line

And a few bad apples is going to exposed as just that

“HOMER, La.

Former Officer Willie Fred Knowles, 66, of the Homer Police Department pleaded guilty today to violating the civil rights of a woman identified only as K.M., announced Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta, head of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, and U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley of the Western District of Louisiana.  Knowles also pleaded guilty to making false statements about the incident to the FBI.

According to the plea agreement, Knowles admitted that, on October 29, 2012, he got into a verbal argument with K.M., who was not under arrest at the time, while he was on duty.  He further admitted that during the argument, he pushed her down and struck her face and body without justification.

Knowles also admitted that he falsely told FBI agents that the woman started the incident by grabbing him and jumping on his back, and that he never hit her.  However, Knowles acknowledged that, in fact, he had started the physical altercation when he pushed the woman down and struck her.

“Without any legitimate reason or cause, this officer chose to use violent force against the victim and then lie to try to cover up his crime,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Gupta.  “Whenever law enforcements officers break the law they take an oath to uphold, they violate the public trust and threaten the reputation of their colleagues who wear the badge and perform their jobs with honor and distinction.”

“This officer’s actions tarnish the reputations and standards upheld by thousands who work in law enforcement across our nation,” said U.S. Attorney Finley.  “Our office will continue to make civil rights cases a priority.”
