Ohio cop attacked by his own K9, shoots and wounds dog which is later euthanized

Officer Brian Carter shot his own K9 partner, Benzi, after the dog attacked him during training

Reports are that Officer Carter was “Correcting Benzi’s behavior through verbal commands” when he was attacked

Carter suffered wounds that required surgery and he was transported to  Ohio Health Grant Medical Center in stable condition

Carter’s K-9 partner Benzi , survived the shooting but was taken to Medvet where he was subsequently euthanized

Benzi served with the Columbus police force for 2 1/2 Years and had won numerous recognitions including one recently for his part in apprehending an ohio state University burglar

No services will be held for Benzi

Police are still investigating the incident
