Florida cop covered up for Buddy in murder plot against 79 year old

“SARASOTA, FL — As one former Sarasota County Sheriff’s deputy stands accused of trying to kill a 79-year-old woman, another deputy now faces charges for allegedly covering up evidence related to the crime. The arrest of Deputy Carson Lee Plank, 23, was announced by the sheriff’s office Thursday.

Plank, a one-year veteran of the agency, “lied to detectives during the criminal investigation surrounding ex-employee Frankie Bybee,” the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media.

Carson, the sheriff’s office said, was one of the first deputies to arrive on the scene after the elderly woman reported the murder attempt on Jan. 12. When Carson was questioned by detectives about what she found at the scene, she told them she “didn’t see anything out of the ordinary at the victim’s home,” the email said. Carson also denied having contact with Bybee since he was placed on administrative leave Dec. 20.

The sheriff’s office said detectives interviewed Plank again on Jan. 19. She told a different story during that interview, the agency alleges.

“Plank admitted to locating and photographing with a cellular phone, a blood droplet with human hair, at the victim’s home on January 12,” the agency said in a media release. “Plank did not submit the photograph as evidence and following the January 12 incident, contacted Bybee to make him aware of the questions detectives asked her related to the attempted murder allegations. Phone records later obtained by detectives confirmed the communication between Plank and Bybee.”

How deep the corruption goes: Former LA sheriff to be re-tried

aaeaaqaaaaaaaaweaaaajdy2n2yxodiylta0ndmtngrmos1hnmu2ltu2zdywota0yjq5yg

“Federal prosecutors announced Tuesday they will retry former L.A. Sheriff Lee Baca for obstruction of justice and conspiracy after his trial last month ended in a hung jury.

At the new trial, scheduled to begin in February, Baca will also face a third charge – false statements, which had been previously severed from the case.

“We think it’s best to rejoin the counts,” prosecutor Brandon Fox told Judge Percy Anderson.

The defense took issue with the move to rejoin, saying it was extremely rare.

“The matter is closed,” Anderson told the defense. “That’s what we are going to do.”

Prosecutors accused Baca of being ‘the heartbeat’ of a conspiracy to thwart an FBI investigation into inmate abuse in the county jails, which the sheriff oversees. But Baca’s defense attorney, Nathan Hochman, told jurors at the last trial the plan was masterminded by then undersheriff Paul Tanaka and carried out in secret from the sheriff.

Prosecutors presented evidence that put Baca in conversation with conspirators, but during deliberations, jurors questioned whether the sheriff’s involvement was illegal. Eleven of the 12 jurors wanted to acquit Baca of obstruction of justice and conspiracy. When the jurors could not reach consensus, the judge declared a mistrial.

“Traditionally, many 11-1 cases have not been retried,” Hochman told reporters after retrial was announced. “Why the government wants to do that, you should ask the government.”

Baca was once among the most powerful men in law enforcement and ran the country’s largest sheriff department for 15 years. He retired in 2014, not long after the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles announced charges against his employees.

Those deputies were accused of hiding an FBI informant, moving him from cell to cell and shrouding him under false names to make it difficult for the FBI to investigate claims of brutality in the jails. Sheriff’s deputies also put an FBI agent under surveillance, showing up outside her home and threatening her arrest.

Nine individuals were convicted or pleaded guilty for their roles in the scheme, including Baca’s second-in-command, Paul Tanaka.

Earlier last year, prosecutors offered Baca a deal in exchange for pleading guilty to making false statements to the FBI, but the judge rejected it as too lenient. That led to the December trial, when prosecutors called many former sheriff’s deputies to testify against Baca.

Baca is accused of lying to federal investigators in 2013, when he told them that he didn’t know there was a civil rights investigation, did not participate in plans to keep the inmate informant from the FBI, and was unaware deputies were going to approach the FBI agent at her home.”

Welcome to the video age: Scumbag cop resigns after being caught on video punching woman in the face

“The Flagstaff police officer seen punching a woman in the face in a video that circulated on social media in November resigned Wednesday after the department recommended he be fired.

The resignation comes the day after the Northern Arizona University Police Department forwarded its investigation into Jeff Bonar, the officer on the video, to the Mohave County Attorney’s Office, which will review the investigation and determine if Bonar should face criminal charges for his actions.

The report, written by Mike O’Hagan, a sergeant in the NAU Police Department, said Marissa Morris, who Bonar and Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputy Joel Winchester were attempting to detain, was not showing “active aggression” or “aggravated active aggression” as the officers attempted to detain her.

The incident occurred in November when Bonar and Winchester were at Morris and her boyfriend’s home on East Blizzard Way to ensure the two were complying with an eviction notice.

According to a report filed at the time, Bonar recognized Morris because she had warrants out for her arrest in non-violent cases. Records show Bonar attempted to arrest Morris on the warrants, which had already been settled at an earlier date and were no longer outstanding.

“It does not appear that the level of force used in this case is reasonable, or immediately necessary to make the arrest,” O’Hagan wrote. “Since Officer Bonar’s first closed fist strike does not come immediately after an aggressive action of Morris, it is not timely, nor is it appropriate for the situation.”

Flagstaff Police Chief Kevin Treadway said the department’s internal affairs investigation found six policy violations against Bonar, the majority regarding excessive use of force.

“The level of resistance by Miss Morris during this incident did not warrant the head strikes used by Officer Bonar,” Treadway said.

Treadway said Bonar also violated policy by not activating his body camera.

“I find no excuse for him not activating his camera and it is a clear violation of our policies,” Treadway said.”

When Irony and fate collide: Cop crashes into doughnut shop

“BEND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon State Police investigation has found that a police corporal in central Oregon violated department policy by illegally running a red light before striking a truck, a pedestrian and a doughnut shop earlier this year.

The Bulletin reports that Bend Police Chief Jim Porter says the state police investigation shows Cpl. Robert Emerson violated both department policy and state law, but that the crash was one mistake in an otherwise exemplary career.

“Our investigation found that he was in violation of our vehicle operation policies,” Porter said. “Furthermore, a circuit court judge found that he violated state law. So there’s no doubt that on that day he was in violation of policy and state law, and that he made a mistake. There is absolutely no doubt about that.”

Emerson was cited after the March 5 crash and paid a $260 fine. Emerson collided with a pickup truck, slid across an intersection, hit a pedestrian and smashed into the Dough Nut shop, Oregon State Police said. No shop employees or customers were injured. Both Emerson and the pedestrian were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Emerson had been on duty for about an hour at the time of the crash and was the supervisor of four other on-duty officers. A report of a stolen vehicle that had fled police had come in just before the crash. In a written statement, Emerson told state police that he believed the driver of the stolen vehicle was impaired and he wanted to get in front of the driver to deploy spike strips.”

“WEST PALM BEACH , FLORIDA Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested on federal identity-theft charges after investigators found he was using his department-issued laptop to gather and then sell people’s information.

Frantz Felisma, 42, allegedly used a law-enforcement database to get personal identification information and sold at least 15 people’s information. With a co-conspirator, they set up credit-card and bank accounts and stole tens of thousands of dollars, according to authorities, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami said.

Felisma has been a deputy with the department since 2009, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.”

“Felisma was in court Thursday, represented by attorney Jason Kreiss. Magistrate Judge William Matthewman ordered Felisma be held in detention because he is a flight risk until his next hearing Dec. 28.”

“Felisma’s wife was crying as her husband stood in court shackled and wearing a blue jumpsuit.”

“A former police officer in St. Clair County is under arrest on multiple child porn charges.

Adam Lee Anderson, 37, was taken into custody Tuesday, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Anderson was a police officer with the Ashville Police Department until his resignation last month. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he resigned because of the pending investigation or for other reasons.

Anderson, who lives in Ashville, is charged with four counts of possession of child pornography. ALEA’s Special Victims Unit led the investigation, and was assisted by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, said Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel.

Authorities didn’t release any additional details, and the court records aren’t yet available. Anderson is being held without bond in the Blount County Jail. He is being held in Blount County at the request of the St. Clair County sheriff so that he wouldn’t be jailed in the county where he formerly worked”

Yep, one day he is pulling you over on the highway

The next he is masturbating to child porn

Think about this:

The day before he was busted, he was a “Sworn officer of the court”

As such, his testimony would be given the weight of truth over yours

He was an official instrument of the state

Remember this pervert the next time you see a cop

Remember this pervert if you ever listen to a cop’s testimony

The sanctioning of the state does not make you a hero

A badge does not make you a hero

A blue uniform does not make you a hero

Do not assume that because some one is a cop that they are a good person

They are just as likely, if not more

To be as bad or worse as the next guy

(Yes, worse. All day long they have opportunity to abuse their authority)

Honolulu police chief caught in attempt to frame innocent man

10560373_10152475471458842_4798866790104459630_o

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) –

“In the last few days we have seen huge developments in the ongoing investigation of Police Chief Louis Kealoha and his wife, Katherine, a supervising Deputy in the office of Prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro.

For the first time, the code of silence was broken when a former officer admitted he lied, under oath, and was directed by other officers as part of a conspiracy to frame an innocent man.

It was also the first time we heard the FBI and prosecutor’s overall theory of the case. Even though the court documents don’t name names, the facts are truly shocking.

And finally, on Monday we learned that the Chief has received a letter saying he is a target of the investigation – facing felony indictment.

The federal government believes that Katherine Kealoha and the officers faked the theft of her mailbox, and staged the surveillance video as evidence to frame her uncle. This is the first time we know for sure that the FBI’s evidence supports that accusation enough to get this first guilty plea and that the conspirators face federal felonies. The officers allegedly involved work for an elite unit that reports directly to the chief.

Of course, we presume all are innocent until proven guilty. But IF true this amounts not only to a violation of the law, but a tremendous abuse of the power of law enforcement and of taxpayer resources.

Also shocking is the apparent lack of concern about this by Honolulu’s top law enforcement agencies. Prosecutor Kaneshiro issued a statement supporting Mrs. Kealoha and belittling the investigation. The police department at least expressed concern and disappointment but said it would take action only if allegations were “confirmed.” The police chief also remained defiant – and stopped short of putting himself on leave”

Psychopaths know right from wrong but don’t care

“The behavior of psychopaths is, without doubt, morally inappropriate, including murder, sexual molestation, fraud, and arson. Further, clinical analyses show that they present abnormal emotional profiles, as well as problems with inhibitory control, often leading to both reactive and instrumental aggression (Blair, 1995, 1997, 2008; Blair and Cipolotti, 2000; Blair et al., 1995; Glenn and Raine, 2008; Kiehl, 2006; Kiehl et al., 2001; Raine and Yang, 2006). What is unclear is the extent to which psychopaths suffer from damage to morally-specific knowledge that, in healthy individuals, guides intuitive judgments of right and wrong independently of their moral actions. On the one hand, studies indicate that psychopaths, both adults and juveniles, show a diminished capacity to distinguish between conventional and moral transgressions (Blair, 1995, 1997, 2008; Smetana, 2005; Turiel, 1998, 2005). For example, unlike healthy adults, adult psychopaths will typically judge as equally forbidden transgressions in which a person wears pyjamas to a restaurant (conventional) and a person who gratuitously hits a waiter in the restaurant (moral). Psychopaths also show diminished inhibitory control, a deficit that may contribute to their impulsive behavior, especially in the context of violence (Blair, 2008; Blair and Cipolotti, 2000; Kiehl, 2006). This research has led to the view that because of their emotional deficits, psychopaths have corresponding deficits in moral knowledge which, coupled with poor inhibitory control, leads to morally inappropriate behavior (Blair, Mitchell, and Blair, 2005; Nichols, 2002; Prinz, 2008).

Further support for the idea that the deficit in moral psychology seen among psychopaths is due to the deficit in emotional processing, comes from the wealth of research showing a significant relationship between emotional experience and moral judgment. For example, dozens of studies now show that you can prime people’s emotional state, and as a result, change their judgment of particular moral scenarios. For instance, putting people in a happy state is associated with a greater tendency to allow someone to be used as a means to some greater good (Valdesolo and DeSteno, 2006); associating a neutral word with disgust under hypnosis is associated with more severe moral condemnation (Wheatley and Haidt, 2006); inducing disgust is associated with more severe moral judgments (Schnall et al., 2008).”
